Digging in the Backyard

For the past two weeks we have been working on multiple projects in our backyard.  We got access to a sod cutter and went a little crazy cutting sod.  We doubled the size of our garden and had a truck load of good dirt and compost brought in.

We tore out the grass on both sides of our back patio so we can extend it big enough to actually put our picnic table on it.

Lincoln wants to be a part of it at every moment.  It's so funny to me that he likes tractors and digging at only 1 years old.   Jeremy let us borrow the excavator from Wheeler Electric which was a LIFESAVER!!  We hauled all the sod by shovel and wheel barrow.  I actually got tears watching that excavator work so quickly.  It saved us SOO much time and effort!

Just have to watch him though he LOVES to eat the dirt.  Weird?!

We hauled most of our extra dirt and all of the sod over to the other corner of our yard where our fire pit is so we could have a raised bed in that corner.  We pulled the bushes from between our two garden spots and planted them in this corner.  I will post more pictures as we get it finished but this is how it looks now.

It's been beautiful weather and kinda fun to have a project we can work on together.  Dustin and I are definitely different as he likes things to be so well thought out and as close to perfect as possible.  I on the other hand am pretty good at "winging" it.  Sometimes we butt heads but most of the time I just try to follow instructions.  :)
