Family Vacation Day 2

Day 2 we met up with our friends, the Hughes at Bear Lake for a fun day in the sun and water.  We sat on the beach and let the kids play all day!

Little mermaids who think it's funny to make faces at the camera.

Dustin managed to relax a little.

After a fun day playing we went to a pizza place and ordered the Old Ephraim pizza.  One pizza to feed all 12 people.  Pretty impressive!  When we got back into Logan our family made a quick stop at Walmart for some supplies and get a Charlie's ice cream then headed back to the Hughes for some game time.  So thankful to have friends like this that we can get together with and pick up where we left off even when we don't see each other more than a few times a year.  Love them!

Family Vacation Day 1

We left Friday morning and went to Minnetonka Caves near Bear Lake.  We arrived at the perfect time and were able to get into the cave within a half hour for a tour.

A little critter friend we saw before going in the caves.

We loved it!  The kids thought it was interesting and entertaining which made it so much fun for us all.  Lincoln didn't like being packed on our back but eventually fell asleep which made the rest of the tour nice.

Porcupine bones are lying here on this rock.

The one rock you could actually touch.

So interesting how these formations end up.  Thousands of years of moisture to create!  The guide had different names for a lot of these formations, but I can't remember them.

The stairway to Heaven.

I believe we are standing in front of what they called the 7 dwarfs.

Love this little family of mine.  This was at the very bottom of the cave and we got to take some pictures and stand still while the guide turned all the lights off and showed us what complete darkness looks like.  It made me grateful again for light - physically and spiritually speaking.

The reality of taking a picture of Alissa.  She is standing by "Elsa's Castle"

After Minnetonka caves we drove into Garden City for some dinner and played around in Bear Lake for a few minutes.  We thought we'd just let the kids get their feet wet, but...

They all ended up soaking wet and going for a swim in their clothes.  I very quickly decided I didn't even care.  We had 2 hours to burn and they were making memories and having a fantastic time.

We rounded up some dry clothes for them and headed to Pickleville Playhouse to watch "Hairspray".  The girls all LOVED it and were completely entertained through the whole show.  I was impressed at intermission when we went to the car to get a snack and started to walk back in and they were surprised because they thought it was over and got so excited to go watch some more of the show.  Made it worth it for sure!  Lincoln sat and watched a movie on my phone but that was find too.

That's a wrap for day 1.  We drove to Montpelier to a junky motel but at least a place to lay our heads until tomorrow.
